Description
The 1979 USPS Mint Set of Commemorative Stamps has quite a wonderful focus on architecture (Scott #1779-1782), folk art from my home state of Pennsylvania (Scott #1775-1778), endangered flora (Scott #1783-1786), and the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics (Scott #1790-1794). Among distinguished Americans to be honored in the 1979 collection are Robert F. Kennedy (Scott #1770), Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (Scott #1771), John Steinbeck (Scott #1773), and Albert Einstein (Scott #1774). I appreciated 1979 as the International Year of the Child (Scott # 1772), and the Seeing Guide Dog (Scott #1787) and Special Olympics (Scott #1788) stamps are personal favorites. he 1980 USPS Mint Set of Commemorative and Special Stamps Set includes 28 mint, never hinged stamps mounted in original album. Highlights of the 1980 Commemoratives include the 15 cent four-stamp blocks on coral reefs (Scott #1827-1830), Indian Art (Scott # 1834-1837), and American Architecture (Scott #1838-1841), and my personal favorite the Lake Placid Winter Olympics (Scott #1795-1798).
